एनडीए बनें सेना में अफसर
अगर आप 12वीं पास करने के बाद सेना में अफसर बनने का सपना देख रहे हैं, तो इसे सच कर दिखाने का सबसे अच्छा माध्यम है एनडीए परीक्षा यानी नेशनल डिफेंस एकेडमी एग्जामिनेशन। यूपीएससी (संघ लोक सेवा आयोग) वर्ष में दो बार अप्रैल/मई व अगस्त/सितंबर में यह परीक्षा आयोजित करता है। अगले वर्ष अप्रैल में होने वाली एनडीए परीक्षा की घोषणा कर दी गई है। इसमें सफलता के लिए लिखित परीक्षा की तैयारी काफी महत्वपूर्ण है।
परीक्षा का स्वरूप
लिखित परीक्षा में ढाई-ढाई घंटे के दो पेपर होंगे- पहला मैथ्स और दूसरा जनरल एबिलिटी। परीक्षा उत्तीर्ण करने के बाद आपको एसएसबी इंटरव्यू के लिए बुलाया जाएगा। मैथ्स का पेपर 300 और जनरल एबिलिटी का 600 अंकों का होता है।
बेसिक्स से शुरू करें
12वीं कक्षा में पढ़ाई कर रहे छात्रों को इस परीक्षा की तैयारी के लिए काफी कम समय मिलता है। इसके लिए उन्हें चाहिए कि वह अपने व्यस्त समय में से कुछ समय निकाल कर 10वीं की सामाजिक विज्ञान पुस्तकों की रिवीजन करें। हफ्ते में एक बार 10वीं की टेक्स्ट बुक्स जरूर पढ़ें। परीक्षा में कुछ सवाल ऐसे होते हैं जिसके लिए भारत व विश्व के मानचित्र की जानकारी होनी चाहिए। इसलिए एटलस पर भी नजर जरूर डालें। मैथमेटिक्स के सिलेबस में अरिथमेटिक, मेंसुरेशन, एलजेब्रा, जिओमेट्री, ट्रिग्नोमेट्री, स्टैटिस्टिक्स व प्रोबैबिलिटी आदि विषय शामिल हैं। प्रश्न-पत्र में सवालों का पैटर्न ऐसा होगा, जिसके जरिए आपकी सैद्धांतिक समझ की जांच की जाएगी। इसलिए तैयारी के दौरान तमाम विषयों के कॉन्सेप्ट अच्छी तरह क्लियर रखें। 120 प्रश्नों को निर्धारित समय में हल करने के लिए शॉर्टकट मेथड्स का भी ज्ञान होना चाहिए। ध्यान रहे कि प्रश्न सिलेबस में शामिल सभी विषयों से आते हैं। ऐसे में कोई विषय नहीं छोड़ें। हर परीक्षा की तरह इस परीक्षा में भी क्वाड्रेटिक इक्वेशन से सवाल आएंगे। अगर कॉन्सेप्ट पर पकड़ है, तो एलजेब्रा और जिओमेट्री विषय आपके लिए स्कोरिंग हो सकते हैं। इस पेपर की तैयारी का सबसे अच्छा तरीका यही है कि टाइमिंग के साथ अधिक से अधिक मॉडल पेपर हल करें।
जनरल एबिलिटी
यह पेपर कुल 600 अंकों का होगा और 150 प्रश्न पूछे जाएंगे। यानी प्रत्येक प्रश्न हल करने के लिए एक मिनट का समय मिलेगा। यह पेपर दो पार्ट्स में बंटा होता है - अंग्रेजी और जनरल नॉलेज।
अंग्रेजी
200 अंकों का पेपर इसी विषय से होगा, इसलिए अभ्यर्थीं इसे हल्के में न लें। इस विषय में अच्छे अंक प्राप्त करने के लिए ज्यादा से ज्यादा रीडिंग की जरूरत होती है। इससे आपको कॉम्प्रीहेंशन में काफी मदद मिलेगी। कुछ टॉपिक्स ऐसे हैं, जिनमें खास प्रैक्टिस की जरूरत होती है, जैसे टेंस, प्रीपोजीशन, सब्जेक्ट वर्ब रिलेशनशिप। सेन्टेंस में ग्रामर संबंधी गलतियां पहचानने के लिए ज्यादा से ज्यादा अभ्यास करें। पैराग्राफ में सेन्टेंसेज को सही क्रम में लगाना भी आना चाहिए। एंटोनिम्स और सिनोनिम्स के लिए वोकाबुलरी अच्छी करने की जरूरत है।
जनरल नॉलेज
इस सेक्शन में फिजिक्स, केमिस्ट्री और जनरल साइंस से 50 प्रतिशत प्रश्न पूछे जाएंगे। ऐसे में आर्ट्स बैकग्राउंड वाले अभ्यर्थियों को इसमें अच्छा स्कोर प्राप्त करने के लिए ज्यादा मेहनत की जरूरत होगी। साइंस में फिजिक्स के कॉन्सेप्चुअल, केमिस्ट्री के सीधे और बायोलॉजी के तथ्यात्मक प्रश्न आते हैं। इतिहास, भारतीय राजनीति और भूगोल विषयों का सिलेबस बेहद विस्तृत होता है। इसलिए इन विषयों में सेलेक्टिव स्टडी करनी चाहिए। मसलन मध्यकालीन और प्राचीन भारत के इतिहास की तुलना में आधुनिक भारत के इतिहास से ज्यादा प्रश्न आते हैं। इसलिए अभ्यर्थियों को आधुनिक भारत के इतिहास पर ज्यादा फोकस करना चाहिए। भूगोल में तथ्यों को रटने की बजाय समझना चाहिए। राजनीतिक विज्ञान में संविधान के महत्वपूर्ण अनुच्छेद, मौलिक अधिकार और वरिष्ठ राजनीतिक पदों की जानकारी होनी चाहिए। करंट अफेयर में विभिन्न कमीशन्स, देश व विश्व स्तरीय प्रतिष्ठित सरकारी व निजी संस्थाएं, उनके प्रमुख, खेल प्रतियोगिताएं, पुरस्कार, प्रसिद्ध किताबें व उनके लेखकों के बारे में भी पता होना चाहिए। इनके लिए अच्छी ईयर बुक, मासिक करंट अफेयर मैग्जीन व अखबार का नियमित तौर पर अध्ययन करते रहें।
तैयारी के मुख्य बिंदु
-परीक्षा से पहले 11वीं और 12वीं का पूरा सिलेबस कवर करें।
-शॉर्ट कर्ट्स मेथड्स के कॉन्सेप्ट पर ज्यादा ध्यान दें।
-जल्दी हल निकालने के लिए महत्वपूर्ण फॉर्मूले टिप्स पर याद होने चाहिए।
-प्रॉब्लम सॉल्विंग स्पीड बढ़ाने के लिए ज्यादा से ज्यादा प्रैक्टिस करें।
-लंबी थ्योरम्स को याद करने की बजाय उनकी एप्लीकेशन्स समझकर याद करें।
-परीक्षा के दौरान पहले आसान प्रश्नों को हल करें, फिर मुश्किल प्रश्नों को।
-परीक्षा में नेगेटिव मार्किंग का प्रावधान है। इसलिए तुक्का मारने से बचें।
-समय-समय पर पुराने प्रश्न-पत्रों को टाइमिंग के साथ हल करें।

अपनी स्थापना से अब तक भारतीय वायु सेना का कायाकल्प हो चुका है। विश्व में चौथी सबसे बड़ी इस वायु सेना में आप एयर मैन और ऑफिसर के रूप में सेवाएं दे सकते हैं। चयन से संबंधित विज्ञापन समाचार-पत्रों में प्रकाशित किए जाते हैं।
एयर मैन के रूप में जॉब
भारतीय वायु सेना में एयर मैन (सिर्फ पुरुष) के रूप में कार्य करने के लिए टेक्निकल और नॉन टेक्निकल दोनों ही क्षेत्रों में अवसर हैं। चयन के पश्चात अभ्यर्थियों की नियुक्ति एक्स, वाई, जेड तीनों में से किसी भी कॉम्बैटेंट ग्रुप में हो सकती है। टेक्निकल टे्रड के तहत कॉम्बैटेंट एक्स में रेडियो फिटर, रडार फिटर, मिसाइल फिटर आदि, जबकि कॉम्बैटेंट वाई में फोटो टेक्नीशियन, मैकेनिकल ट्रांसपोर्ट टेक्नीशियन आदि के रूप में नियुक्ति होती है। नॉन टेक्निकल ट्रेड के तहत कॉम्बैटेंट एक्स में एजुकेशन इंस्ट्रक्टर और कॉम्बैटेंट वाई में ग्राउंड ट्रेनिंग इंस्ट्रक्टर, इंडियन एयर फोर्स पुलिस, कैटरिंग असिस्टेंट, टेलीफोन ऑपरेटर आदि और कॉम्बैटेंट जेड में म्यूजिशियन के रूप में एयर फोर्स में काम करने का मौका मिलता है।
एयर मैन के रूप में जॉब के लिए निर्धारित न्यूनतम शारीरिक योग्यता को पूरा करना जरूरी है। इसके लिए लिखित परीक्षा और मेडिकल दोनों में सफल होना जरूरी है। विभिन्न पदों के लिए निर्धारित योग्यता के अनुसार लिखित परीक्षा के लिए प्रश्न-पत्र बनाए जाते हैं। टेक्निकल स्ट्रीम में अंग्रेजी, मैथ्स और फिजिक्स से संबंधित, जबकि नॉन-टेक्निकल स्ट्रीम में सिर्फ अंग्रेजी और रीजनिंग एेंड जनरल अवेयरनेस से संबंधित प्रश्न पूछे जाते हैं। म्यूजिशियन के लिए अंग्रेजी डिक्टेशन की जांच की जाती है।
-ग्रुप एक्स में टेक्निकल ट्रेड के तहत एयरमैन के रूप में आप अपनी सेवा दे सकते हैं। इसके लिए आयु सीमा 17 से 22 वर्ष होनी चाहिए। शैक्षणिक योग्यता के रूप में अभ्यर्थी को मैथमेटिक्स और फिजिक्स में कम से कम 50 प्रतिशत अंकों के साथ इंटरमीडिएट/12वीं उत्तीर्ण होना चाहिए अथवा उसके पास इंजीनियरिंग (मैकेनिकल, इलेक्ट्रिकल, इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स, ऑटोमोबाइल, कंप्यूटर साइंस या इंस्ट्रूमेंटेशन टेक्नोलॉजी, इन्फॉरमेशन टेक्नोलॉजी) में कम सेकम 50 प्रतिशत अंकों के साथ 3 साल का डिप्लोमा होना चाहिए।
-ग्रुप वाई में वही उम्मीदवार जा सकते हैं जो इंटरमीडिएट/12वीं साइंस, आर्ट्स या कॉमर्स से 50 प्रतिशत अंकों केसाथ उत्तीण हों। इस योग्यता के समकक्ष वोकेशनल कोर्सेज वाले उम्मीदवार भी इसके लिए अप्लाई कर सकते हैं। लेकिन वोकेशनल कोर्स एसोसिएशन ऑफ इंडियन यूनिवर्सिटीज से मान्यता प्राप्त सीबीएसई या केरल बोर्ड से किया होना चाहिए। ग्रुप वाई एयरमैन पद के लिए 17 से 22 वर्ष की उम्र वाले युवा ही आवेदन कर सकते हैं। इसमें श्रेणी में सभी वाई ट्रेड शामिल हैं, सिवा म्यूजिशियन ट्रेड के।
-म्यूजिशियन ट्रेड के लिए भी सरकार से मान्यता प्राप्त बोर्ड से 10वीं पास होना जरूरी है। इसके अलावा म्यूजिशियन के लिए इनमें से एक म्यूजिजिकल इंस्ट्रूमेंट का अच्छा ज्ञान होना चाहिए - ट्रंपेंट, बास, वॉयलिन, सेक्सोफोन, क्लेरिनेट, यूरोफोनियम, जास ड्रम, पिकोलो, बास ट्रंबोन, कीबोर्ड, गिटार, सरोद, सेलो, कोंट्रा बास। इसके लिए 17 से 25 वर्ष के बीच आयु रखने वाले उम्मीदवार आवेदन कर सकते हैं।
ऑफिसर के रूप में जॉब
एयर फोर्स में तीन ब्रांचेज के तहत छात्र अपनी सेवाएं (परमानेंट और शॉर्ट सर्विस कमीशन) दे सकते हैं- फ्लाइंग, टेक्निकल और ग्राउंड ब्रांच। ऑफिसर के रूप मे नियुक्ति के लिए निर्धारित शारीरिक मापदंडों के आधार पर भी खरा उतरना जरूरी है। लिखित परीक्षा में सफल होने पर एयर फोर्स सेलेक्शन बोर्ड के समक्ष इंटरव्यू, ग्रुप टेस्ट और अन्य मनोवैज्ञानिक टेस्ट के लिए उपस्थित होना पड़ेगा। जरूरत के अनुसार मेडिकल टेस्ट भी क्लियर करना होगा।
-12वीं उत्तीर्ण छात्रों (सिर्फ पुरुष) को फ्लाइंग ब्रांच में एनडीए के माध्यम से सेवा का मौका मिलता है। एनडीए में प्रवेश के लिए अभ्यर्थी की आयु साढ़े 16 से 19 वर्ष के बीच होनी चाहिए।
-ग्रेजुएट तीनों ही शाखाओं में जॉब पा सकते हैं। फ्लाइंग ब्रांच में एंट्री के लिए आयु सीमा 19 से 23 वर्ष निर्धारित है। सीडीएस परीक्षा के द्वारा इसमें पुरुष अभ्यर्थियों को प्रवेश मिलता है। एनसीसी का एयर विंग सीनियर डिविजन सी सर्टिफिकेट होने पर भी आपको मौका मिलता है। महिलाओं के अलावा पुरुषों को भी शॉर्ट सर्विस कमीशन के तहत फ्लाइंग ब्रांच में नौकरी मिलती है। टेक्निकल ब्रांच में डायरेक्ट एंट्री स्कीम और यूनिवर्सिटी एंट्री स्कीम के तहत इंजीनियरिंग में जॉब मिलता है। ग्राउंड ड्यूटी (एडमिनिस्ट्रेशन, अकाउंट, लॉजिस्टिक्स) में जॉब के लिए अभ्यर्थी की आयु 20 से 23 वर्ष के बीच होनी चाहिए।
-जो (पुरुष व महिला) पोस्टग्रेजुएट हैं, उनको ग्राउंड ड्यूटी (एडमिनिस्ट्रेशन, अकाउंट, लॉजिस्टिक्स, एजुकेशन, मेटियोरोलॉजी) में मौके मिलते हैं।
-इंजीनियरिंग के डिग्रीधारक अभ्यर्थियों के लिए फ्लाइंग ब्रांच, टेक्निकल ब्रांच और ग्राउंड ड्यूटी तीनों में ही मौके मिलते हैं। फ्लाइंग ब्रांच में सीडीएस परीक्षा के द्वारा पुरुष अभ्यर्थियों को प्रवेश मिलता है। ग्राउंड ब्रांच में मेटियोरोलॉजिकल डिपार्टमेंट में अभ्यर्थी एंट्री पा सकते हैं।
महिलाओं के लिए मौके
एयर फोर्स में सिर्फ ऑफिसर कैटेगरी में महिलाओं को मौके मिलते हैं। इनके लिए योग्यता ग्रेजुएशन, पोस्टग्रेजुएशन और इंजीनियरिंग है। लेकिन महिलाओं की नियुक्ति सिर्फ शॉर्ट सर्विस कमीशन के तहत होती है, यानी 10 सालों के लिए। इसके बाद उनकी कार्यक्षमता और उम्र को देखते हुए इसे और 10 साल के लिए बढ़ाया जा सकता है। फ्लाइंग पायलट (एसएससी) के लिए नियुक्ति 14 वषोजेड के लिए होती है, जिसे बढ़ाया नहीं जा सकता।

SELECTION PROCEDURE
The recruitment of Personnel Below Officer Rank (PBOR) as an Airman in the IAF is conducted through All India Selection Tests and Recruitment Rallies. All India Selection Tests are conducted at the Airmen Selection Centers (ASCs) located all over India as per schedule whereas the Recruitment Rallies are conducted from time to time in selected areas/regions of particular States/Union Territories of the country.
All India Selection Tests: Advertisements are published in Employment News/Rozgar Samachar inviting the applications for All India Selection Tests (STs). In response to the advertisement, eligible male Indian Citizens are to forward application to the:

The Board sends admit cards to eligible and short listed candidates to appear in the Selection Tests.
Recruitment Rallies : Recruitment rallies are conducted at select places within the country from time to time. Rally advertisements are published with the details of eligibility conditions, selection programme and rally venue in local/regional newspapers circulated in the region/area of the rally. For rally recruitment, eligible candidates are to report to the rally venue on the day of test with the requisite documents as published in the advertisements. Further procedures will be briefed to the candidates at rally venue by the team of selections.
Candidates while reporting for Selection Test/Rally Recruitment are to be in possession of their Certificates/Mark Sheets and other related documents as mentioned in the advertisement. These documents will be scrutinized and verified by the Testing Team.
Written Test: Candidates are tested in English, Physics & Mathematics for Group ‘X’ (Technical) trades and in English & Reasoning and General Awareness (RGA) for all Group ‘Y’ trades.
Written Test is objective type and question paper is bilingual (English & Hindi), except English paper. Written test is based on CBSE syllabus of AISSCE. Candidates for Group 'Z' (Musician) trade are tested in English dictation and proficiency to play the musical instrument applied for. Candidates are to qualify in each paper/test separately.
Physical Fitness Test (PFT): Candidates passing the written tests are to undergo Physical Fitness Test(PFT). The PFT for all trades excluding Indian Air Force (Police) & Indian Air Force (Security) trades consists of a 1.6 Km run to be completed within specified time. The PFT for Indian Air Force (Police) & Indian Air Force (Security) trades includes a 5 Km run & 2.4 Km run to be completed in 30 minutes & 15 minutes respectively. Candidates completing PFT earlier will be awarded additional marks on a sliding scale.
Interview: Candidates passsing PFT will be interviewed by a team of Officers & Warrant ranks. Interview is normally conducted in English. Working knowledge of English is thus essential.
Trade Allocation Test (TAT) : Candidates of Group 'X' (Technical) trades who qualify in interview are to undergo Trade Allocation Test for bifurcation into Mechanical and Electronics stream. Specific trade allotment within these streams will be carried out at Basic Training Institute (BTI), Air Force (Belgaum).
Medical Examination: Candidates who are recommended in the interview will be medically examined by the Recruitment Medical Team as per Indian Air Force medical standards. Medical certificates/certificates of fitness from other doctors will not be admissible except for diopteric power as stated in Medical Standards given in detail on this site.
ENROLMENT & TRAINING
All India Select List (AISL) & Enrolment : Candidates who are passing the Written Test, completing PFT, recommended in interview and undergone Medical Examination are arranged in All India Select List(AISL). The inclusion of names of the candidates in the AISL depends upon the performance of the candidates in the Selection Test. Candidates are enrolled in the Indian Air Force as per the existing vacancies. Enrolment is for an initial period of 20 years and extendable up to the age of 57 years.
Training: The candidates on enrolment are routed to Basic Training Institute (BTI), Belgaum, Karnataka to undergo Joint Basic Phase Training (JBPT) for a period of 12 weeks. On successful completion of JBPT, candidates will be allocated trades and sent for trade training of specified duration. After successful completion of training, the airmen will be deployed on ground based jobs as per their allotted trades.
AGE AND EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION CRITERIA
One can join rank and file of Indian Air Force as an airman in the category of Personnel Below Officer Rank(PBOR) if he possess following eligibility criteria:-

Group 'Y' 17 -22 Years Candidates should have passed Intermediate/ 10+2 with science, arts, commerce subjects or equivalent vocational courses with minimum 50% marks in aggregate. Vocational courses conducted by CBSE and Kerala Board recognised by Association of Indian Universities (AIU) only are eligible. All Group 'Y' Trades (Except Musician Trade)
Group 'Y' 17-25 Years Passed Matriculation/ 10th class passed or equivalent with minimum pass marks from any Govt recognized school/Boards, should be between 17-25 years of age and should be proficient in playing at least one musical instrument of the following:
Trumpet /Bass/ Violin/ Saxophone/ Clarinet/ Euphonium /Jass-Drum/ Piccolo/Bass Trombone/ Key Board/ Guitar/ Sarod/ Viola/ Cello/ Contra Bass (String Bass).

MEDICAL STANDARDS
To get selected as an Airman, the candidate must be physically and mentally FIT to perform duties in any part of the world, climate and terrain. Medical Standards to become an Airman are as follows:-

Note: For candidates from Uttarakhand and North-Eastern States, relaxation in height by 10 cm, 4.5 cm and 2.5 cm is given for Indian Air Force (Security), Ground Training Instructor and Auto Technician trades respectively.
(b) Weight : Weight should be proportionate to height and age.
(c) Chest : Minimum range of expansion : 5 cm
(d) Vision : There are different visual standards specific to different trades. However, the common minimum visual standards acceptable for some of the trades are :-
(i) Unaided vision : 6/36 for each eye
(ii) Correctable with spectacles : at least 6/9 for each eye
(iii) Dioptectric power : not exceeding + 3.5 Dioptres including
Astigmatism.
(iv) Field of Vision : Full
(v) Colour perception : Minimum CP-III
(vi) Corneal Surgery : PRK/LASIK is not acceptable
Note : Indian Air Force (Police) & Indian Air Force (Security) trades require 6/6 vision for each eye unaided and CP-II i.e. no use of spectacles permissible for these trades.
(e) Hearing : Should have normal hearing i.e. able to hear forced whisper from a distance of 6 meters by each ear separately.
(f) Dental : Should have healthy gums, good set of teeth and minimum
14 dental points.
(g) Health : Should have no medical or surgical deformity and should be free from all communicable diseases & skin ailments.
In addition to above medical standards, following are prerequisite for Group ‘X’ (Technical) Trades and Group ‘Y’ {For Auto Tech, GTI and IAF (P)} Trades.

PAY AND ALLOWANCES
PAY & ALLOWANCES. During training a stipend of Rs. 5,700/-pm will be paid. On completion of training, one is placed in the emoluments as under. Promotion to next Pay Band is as per the policy in vogue.

Allowances. In addition to the above, Military Service Pay of Rs.2000/- pm is paid to all airmen. Various other allowances like Dearness Allowance (calculated on Pay Band + Grade Pay + MSP), Transport Allowance, Composite Personal Maintenance Allowance, High Altitude Allowance, Field Area/Modified Field Area Allowance etc are also admissible as applicable.
Perquisites. Perks such as Ration, Clothing, Medical facilities, Accommodation, Educational concession to children, recreational facilities, free transport for school going children and Leave Travel Concession are also provided as per the existing rules. Post retirement benefits include pension, gratuity and leave encashment. Notwithstanding the above, Group Insurance Cover of Rs. 15,00,000/- at nominal premium of Rs. 960/- pm, is covered for all airmen and facility of Group Housing Scheme is also extended. Other facilities by Air Force Wives Welfare Association are also extended for family of airmen.

The initial period of engagement in the IAF is 20 years, which can be extended up to the age of 57 years. Promotion up to the rank of Master Warrant Officer exists to the deserving airmen. Provision for grant of Honorary Commission to the deserving Warrant Officers and Master Warrant Officer. Opportunities to become a Commissioned Officer also exists for the deserving personnel.
